RYAN + MIRANDA

Let me just tell you....everybody needs a little Miranda and Ryan in their life! I absolutely cannot wait to see these two again in May!

Ryan and Miranda have officially been together for almost two years, but they actually met when Ryan was 13 and Miranda was 12. Ryan's best friend brought him by Miranda's house one night after going to the movies.  When Miranda met Ryan, she instantly wanted to be his girlfriend, but Ryan was not at all interested. They became friends at school and dated other people, but secretly Miranda always had a crush on Ryan. At the time Miranda says, "Ryan never wanted to date me...he thought I was annoying!" Miranda...you are so funny!!

Obviously, things worked out, because we just finished up with their engagement session! Ryan surprised Miranda on his birthday with a proposal! They went for a walk downtown and started talking about their new house. Ryan asked Miranda how she was going to decorate the living room and then he suggested she decorate it with pictures from their engagement.  Miranda turned around and he was on one knee! Miranda says she was speechless (for the first time in her life).  Ryan had hired a photographer to capture the whole thing and she popped out of her hiding spot and took pictures of them! Miranda says, "It was magical! Best night of my life so far!"  By the way, Miranda....I agree with Ryan.....you should absolutely decorate your living room with your engagement photos!!

Ryan and Miranda live with their cat, Oscar, in Nebraska, but Ryan's family is local.  They will be getting married in May 2019 at Heartstone Lodge. They both are Train Dispatchers for Union Pacific in Omaha.

Ryan and Miranda, I had the best time with you both! You are both just so full of awesomeness! Please enjoy some of my favorites from your engagement session.

Eric and Cristina had a beautiful wedding at the Irvine Estate on October 20, 2018. They met through mutual friends and became good friends before they started dating.  Thirteen years later, here we are celebrating their wedding day and oh...what a day it was...perfect in every way!

It finally felt like fall (sometimes like winter when the wind was whipping) on the mountain! The cozy fireplace, the hot coffee, and the warm snuggly blankets these two had for their guests for the ceremony couldn't have been more fall like! And just wait until you see their children...oh. my. goodness. they are just adorable!!

Eric and Cristina, I have truly enjoyed every second with you two! You both are so kind and are so much fun! Congratulations and all my best wishes to you and your children at this special time and always! I couldn't possibly put all the photos I love on the blog because that would be all of them...and they are so. many. photos. but here are a few of my favorites from your wonderful day! I hope you enjoy!

CPL James Bernard Noel Memorial Bridge Dedication

September 24, 2018  •  Leave a Comment

CPL James “Bernard” Noel, United States Army, died September 4th 1950 in Korea protecting the Pusan Perimeter along the Naktong River, during the Second Naktong Bulge.  Grover Ramsey was a first cousin to CPL Noel and they grew up together just a mile or so off Pedler River Road.

On Saturday, September 22, Grover's family and friends, The Amherst County Board of Commissioners,  Mr. Gary Floyd, American Legion Post Commander # 196, in Buena Vista,  Mr. Gary Witt, Sergeant at Arms for the Military Order of the Purple Heart and the VMI Color Guard and Bagpipe team honored and recognized the ultimate sacrifice of CPL James Bernard Noel, United States Army at the Oronoco Brethren Church in Amherst County.

Corporal James Bernard Noels Bronze Star With Valor citation:

“Corporal James Bernard Noel RA13166321, Infantry, United States Army, a member of Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, Second Infantry Division, distinguished himself by heroic achievement, on 4 September 1950 in the vicinity of Changnyong, Korea.  In the early morning hours of that date, he was in charge of a wire team, maintaining communications among his battalion when communication lines were severed by heavy enemy fire falling in the area, Corporal Noel, with complete indifference for his personal safety, went out into the fire-swept terrain in order to check the lines.  In spite of the intense hostile fire, he succeeded in locating the break and in making the necessary repairs under the mortar fire which was falling within a few feet of his position. As he was returning to his unit, he was killed by an exploding mortar shell. The heroism and selfless devotion to duty displayed by Corporal Noel reflect great credit upon himself and the Armed Forces of the United States.  Entered the military service from Virginia.”

The bridge near his childhood home that crosses the Pedlar River was dedicated to CPL Noel in his honor. It was such an honor to be included in this ceremony.  Please enjoy some of my images from the ceremony.

BRIAN + TINA

I gained so many wonderful friends during my time with Buena Vista City Schools!  JoAnn and Fred Yelverton are two of those special friends! JoAnn and Fred are just the dearest couple ever.  This past weekend, I had the pleasure of photographing their son, Brian and his beautiful bride, Tina's wedding at House Mountain Inn.

Now you must be thinking.....this past weekend when so many couples were postponing their wedding plans because of Hurricane Florence?? Well Brian and Tina were not one of those couples! Thanks to the wonderful staff at House Mountain Inn and the careful planning by Tina and Amy, Brian's sister....their wedding went off without a hitch! By the end of the evening everyone was saying, "Florence who??"  As a matter of fact, Tina and Brian embraced Florence and made their entrance to the song "Rock You Like A Hurricane!" Sooo fun!!!

Brian and Tina, what an honor you chose me to photograph your wedding! It was a perfect day...despite Florence! Thank you for letting me be a part of your special day! Best wishes on this wonderful journey as you build your life together! Enjoy some of my favorite images from your day!

Ending the night with a photo with the bride and groom! Love you guys!!
