Professional Lab Prints vs. Drugstore Prints | Kathy Jennings Photography

One of the services I offer is a disk or usb drive of digital images/print release from your session.  Many of my clients see this as a valuable service.  Once you have the digital files, you can order as many prints as you would like from the place of your choice.  For several years, I did not offer digital files for one simple reason.  I knew my clients would head straight to the drugstore to get cheap prints and I knew that the prints would not be the true representation of my work. When you picked up the prints, they would not look the same as the ones you saw in your gallery.  I really didn't want clients sharing these prints and displaying them in their homes. This could actually hurt my reputation, since people might wrongly equate the poorly printed photo with the work I had done.  Even though today I offer the digital files, I still have those same fears!  I want to tell you the advantages of purchasing your prints through Kathy Jennings Photography.

I use a professional lab that offers high quality paper and photo finishes. The quality of printing you receive at a professional lab can't compare to the quality you receive at the drugstore. No one at the drugstore checks to make sure the printer's colors are correct or even toned, that the photo is lined up, or the photo is cropped correctly. The person printing your photos is just a regular worker who pushes a few buttons on a computer and lets the printer spit out the photos. When you use a professional lab, you have trained technicians with lots of experience who monitor the print quality. Before your order is placed, I will personally go through your order photo by photo to check for correct cropping. I will happily meet with you and go over your entire order. Your photos are special to me so I want you to have the very best. Do you want help picking out the size of a canvas to display in your home or create a collage for grandma? Yep, I will do that, too.

I know that people want options and want to have their own copies of photos to share online, use as a slideshow on their computer, or email to grandma and grandpa.  I know that when some clients get that disk and print release they still head to the drugstore for prints. That's fine, as long as they know the advantages of purchasing from a professional lab.  In my photo release it states that "the images purchased are high resolution photos and Kathy Jennings Photography is not responsible for poor printing quality obtained elsewhere" so I am covered in that respect. You have invested alot of money in your photo session, why settle for poor quality, $0.12 drugstore prints to display in your home? Make sure that you are getting the same incredible photos you've seen in your online photo gallery by purchasing through my lab.

Here are some comparisons that have been done by other photographers of professional lab prints vs. drugstore prints.  I think you will be able to see the difference for yourself.
