Do you remember my post earlier this year about the Shoot and Share Contest?  Here's a little refresher....Photographers from all over the world were able to enter the contest and share their work.  A single photographer could enter up to 40 photos in 21 different categories.  The photographer's name was never displayed with the photo and each photo was judged on it's own merit. I especially liked this contest because it was all about the photos and not about who was the most popular photographer and who had the most social media influence.  Everyone could vote and vote they did!! 

Here are some of the statistics from the contest. There were 110,928 photos submitted from around the world for a total of 23,154,356 votes!! Some 73,883 different people were involved in the contest.

Other than local contests, I have never entered a photo contest of this magnitude...until now. Submissions were free, so what did I have to lose?  I gave it a shot.  I entered 23 photos in 7 different categories.  Lots of people asked me how I did in the contest...I had no idea until this week.  

There were 12 rounds in the contest.  Photos were eliminated each day based on the number of votes the photo got.  All 23 of my photos made it to the second round. (insert BIG smile)...people actually voted for my photos!! I am happy to say that I had one photo make it to the top 10%, three photos made it to the top 20% and 2 photos made it to the top 30% of the photos entered in the contest. Amazing that's all I can say!! I had no expectations going into the contest so to say this contest exceeded all my expectations is a BIG understatement!

P.S.  I went to the site everyday clicking through the photos and voting and I NEVER saw any of my photos!  I thought they had all been eliminated on round 1!
